Cost of Operating
This is a just an overall small snapshop of some of the regular monthly cost associated with running the shelter:
Utilities: All utilities (gas, water and electric) average about $615.00 per month (and that is being economical).
Telephone/Internet: 2 business lines and 1 guest message phone and internet is $165.00 per month.
Liability Insurance: This is a manditory requirement and averages about $675.00 per month.
Payroll: 4 full-time, and 3 part-time staff is about $9,345 and this does not include benefits.
Seems like a lot? The staff of the Good Neighbor Alliance does a lot with a little. Just ask those who have transitioned out of the shelter into their own homes, and sleeping in their own beds! Just ask the single mother with two kids that recently stayed in the shelter. Or just ask the gentlemen who became clean and sober while staying in the shelter.
